In November 1984 Paul began his ministry with FBC Ponoka. He married Lois, in September 1985.
Lois retired in 2017 from her position as the Principal of Ponoka Elementary School. Their daughter, Sara was married in November 2017 and lives and works in the town of Ponoka as well.
Paul began his pastoral training by attending Briercrest Bible Institute where he received his
Bachelor of Religious Education. He went on to Edmonton Baptist Seminary and received his
Masters of Divinity degree. In 2007, Paul received a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Carey Theological College. He has also gone through the Canadian Arrow Leadership program
established by Layton Ford.
Paul would say that the primary gifts that the Lord has given him to use at First Baptist Ponoka are
the gifts of teaching and the gifts of leadership. He also has extensive training and skills in the area
of Prayer Ministry. Paul also works with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada in the area of pastoral settlement.
Bev joined the staff of FBC Ponoka as Ministry Assistant in June 2015. In March 2016 Bev took over the role of Office Assistant. She and her husband, Joseph, along with their young daughters Abigail, Sadie Jo, and Emma, moved to Ponoka in December 2014 from Prince Edward Island.
Bev attended Kawartha Lakes Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario obtaining a diploma in Biblical Studies before pursuing a career as an RN. After moving to Ponoka, Bev decided to give up her nursing licence after 12 years and move on to something new when a position in ministry became available at FBC.
Associate Pastor - Facilitator of Community Life
James joined FBC Ponoka as Facilitator of Community Life as of February 2015. His wife Genevieve and their four children, Grace, Winona, Rachel and Soren live on an acreage just outside of Ponoka.
James has his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Theology from Taylor University College and is currently working on his Masters of Divinity through Carey Theological College.

Role of the Elder:
Elders are accountable for the spiritual life of the church family. They are the prayer warriors and peacemakers. Responsibilities of the Elders include Pastoral Care, Membership, Bible Study Groups, Missional Projects & Visitation.

Role of the Deacon:
Deacons are accountable for the functional life of the church family in accordance with the mission of the church. the Greek word (diakonos) translated 'deacon' means servant - The role of the deacon is more task and function oriented. Responsibilities of the Deacons are separated into commissions/areas which they oversee.
